About SubtitleMedic
What SubtitleMedic does
Subtitles break in a handful of predictable ways: they show up a few seconds too early or too late, they drift further off as the movie goes on, the file is in the wrong format for your player, or the accents turn into garbled symbols. SubtitleMedic gives you one simple tool for each of these problems, so you can fix the file and get back to watching.
How it works
When you open a subtitle file, it is read and processed by JavaScript running in this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server: not the file, not its text, not the fixed version you download. The tools keep working even if you go offline after the page has loaded.
This is also why there is no sign-up, no upload limit and no queue. Your own device does the work, usually in well under a second.
The tools
- Shift Subtitle Timing: move every line earlier or later by any number of seconds.
- Format converters, one page per conversion: SRT to VTT, VTT to SRT, ASS to SRT, ASS to VTT, SBV to SRT, SBV to VTT and SUB to SRT.
- Fix Subtitle Encoding: repair broken accents and special characters. Coming soon.
- Change Frame Rate: fix subtitles that drift because they were made for a different frame rate.
- Merge Two Subtitles: combine two subtitle files, for example two languages at once. Coming soon.
Who makes it
SubtitleMedic is built and maintained by Viet Pham, a web developer who kept downloading subtitles that were out of sync or full of garbled characters. The project started in 2026.
Why it's free
SubtitleMedic is free to use, with no sign-up and no limits. Because your own device does the work, the site costs very little to run. Our Privacy Policy explains the little data the site keeps.
